Shri Mantra Raja Pada Stotram
॥ श्रीमन्त्रराजपदस्तोत्रम् ॥
There are many Mantras admiring the glory of Shri Lakshmi Nrusimhan. Out of these, “ Shri Nrusimha Anushtup Mantra, revered as “ Shri Mantra Rajan” is the peerless one. With this Mantra, the Omniscient Shri Rudra BhagavAn has composed “ Shri Mantra Raja Pada Stotram”. This is acknowledged with deep respect as the Parama PramANam” (Supreme Authority) by one and all.
The 11 slokas in this Stotram ( hymn ) are as under-
वृत्तोत्फुल्लविशालाक्षं
विपक्षक्षयदीक्षितम् ।
निनादत्रस्तविश्वाण्डं
विष्णुमुग्रं नमाम्यहम् ॥
VruthOth phulla visAlAksham
Vipaksha kshaya Dikshitham |
NinAda thrasta visvAndam
VishNum Ugram namAmyaham || (1)
Adiyen’s pranAms ( reverential salutations) to that Ugra ( ferocious looking ) and all pervasive EmperumAn Shri Lakshmi Nrusimhan; Whose divine face with broad and benign eyes eclipse the beauty of fully blossomed lotus with His unsurpassed charm. Who completely destroys the enemies of all those who have taken refuge in Him ( surrendered at His divine lotus feet). Who by His thundering and shattering roaring ( of lion) shook the entire Universe.
सर्वैरवध्यतां प्राप्तं
सबलौघं दितेः सुतम् ।
नखाग्रैः शकलीचक्रे
यस्तं वीरं नमाम्यहम् ॥
SarvairavadhyathAm prAptham
Sabha lougham dithe: sutham |
NakhAgrai : sakali chakrE
Yastham veeram namAmyaham || (2)
Adiyen’s pranAms to the great warrior who tore into shreds with His nail the demon Hiranyakasipu, who acquired extraordinary strength by virtue of the boons granted to him.
पदावष्टब्धपातालं
मूर्धाविष्टत्रिविष्टपम् ।
भुजप्रविष्टाष्टदिशं
महाविष्णुं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ३॥
PadhAvashtabdha pAthAlam
MoordhAvishta trivishtapam |
Bhuja pravishtAshta dhisam
MahAvishnum namAmyaham || (3)
Adiyen’s pranAms to MahA Vishnu , who in His incarnation as the dwarf Vamana grew into an awe-inspiring gigantic size as TrivikramA, with His Divine feet reaching down to PAtAlam (nether World or under world), His sacred head extending beyond Indra LOkam (Indra’s World) and His Divine hands pervading all the eight directions.
ज्योतींष्यर्केन्दुनक्षत्र
ज्वलनादीन्यनुक्रमात् |
ज्वलन्ति तेजसा यस्य
तं ज्वलन्तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ४॥
JyOtheemshyarkendhu nakshatra
JvalanAdheenya anukramAth |
Jvalanthi thejasA yasya
Tham jvalantham namAmyaham || ( 4)
Adiyen’s pranAms to Him who is the Jyotiswarupa (light of all lights or embodiment of light) and whose amazing effulgence lightens up Sun, Moon and Stars , which do not have any shine or light of their own.
सर्वेन्द्रियैरपि विना
सर्वं सर्वत्र सर्वदा ।
यो जानाति नमाम्याद्यं
तमहं सर्वतोमुखम् ॥ ५॥
SarvEndriyairapi vinA
Sarvam sarvathra sarvadA |
Yo jAnAthi namAm yAdhyam
Thamaham sarvathO mukham || (5)
Adiyen’s pranAms to the ParamAtman (the Supreme Soul), who is SarvathOmukhan (one who can see in all the directions) and who is fully aware of everything in the Universe that exists at any time or all the times and at all places, without any help whatsoever of any “Indriyams” (sensory organs)
नरवत् सिंहवच्चैव
यस्य रूपं महात्मनः ।
महासटं महादंष्ट्रं
तं नृसिंहं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ६॥
Naravath simhavacchaiva
Yasya roopam mahAthmana: |
MahA satam mahA damshtram
Tham Nrusimham namAmyaham || (6)
Adiyen’s pranAms to Shri Nrusimhan, who incarnated in the Unique Divine charming and captivating Nara- Simha Rupam ( Sacred Form with torso like a man and face like a Lion), with huge mane and teeth.
यन्नामस्मरणाद् भीताः
भूतवेतालराक्षसाः ।
रोगाद्याश्च प्रणश्यन्ति
भीषणं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ७॥
YannAma smaranAdh bheethA:
Bhootha vetAla rAkshasA:
RogAd yAscha pranashyanthi
Bheeshanam tham namAmyaham || (7)
Adiyen’s pranAms to the Bheeshanan (Ferocious One), the mere thinking of whose Divine names terrifies malignant devils; ghosts and demons and makes them run for their lives; cures completely all the diseases, including the acute diseases which are incurable by any other means whatsoever.
सर्वोऽपि यं समाश्रित्य
सकलं भद्रमश्नुते ।
श्रिया च भद्रया जुष्टो
यस्तं भद्रं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ८॥
Sarvopi yam samAshrithya
Sakalam bhadramashnute |
SriyA cha bhadraya jushto
Yastham bhadram namAmyaham || (8)
Adiyen’s pranAms to Him who is always with the propitious Sri Mahalakshmi and is an embodiment of auspiciousness who showers all sorts of prosperity on all those who surrender unto Him.
साक्षात् स्वकाले सम्प्राप्तं
मृत्युं शत्रुगणान्वितम् ।
भक्तानां नाशयेद् यस्तु
मृत्युमृत्युं नमाम्यहम् ॥ ९॥
SAkshAth svakAle sampraptam
Mrutyum shatru gananvitam |
BhaktAnAm nAshayedh yastu
Mrutyu mrutyum namAmyaham || (9)
Adiyen”s PranAms to Him who is “Mrutyu mrutyum” (“Death to the Death” ie. He is the One to whom the Yamadharmaraja, the Lord of death, is subservient) who at the right moment annihilates the enemies of His devotees.
नमस्कारात्मकं यस्मै
विधायाऽऽत्मनिवेदनम् ।
त्यक्तदुःखोऽकिलान् कामान्
अश्नन्तं तं नमाम्यहम् ॥ १०॥
NamaskArAthmakam yasmai
Vidhaya Athma nivEdanam
Thyakthadhu: khokhilAn kAmAn
Ashnantham tham namAmyaham (10)
Adiyen’s PranAms to Him-who protects anyone, who completely surrenders unto His Lotus feet by saying Nama: and doing Atma- NivEdanam or SaranAgati (which refers to the stage at which one who has no motive other than service to the Lord, surrenders every thing to the Lord and performs his activities only to please the Supreme Lord.), from all calamities, miseries and hardships and bestows upon him all the prosperity.
दासभूताः स्वतः सर्वे
ह्यात्मानः परमात्मनः ।
अतोऽहमपि ते दासः
इति मत्वा नमाम्यहम् ॥ ११॥
Dasa BhoothA: sthvatha: sarve
HyAthmAna : paramAthmana |
AthOhamapi tE dasa :
Iti matvA namAmyaham !! (11)
Adiyen’s PranAms to the Supreme Lord, realizing fully well that all are by nature His Dasans (servitors) and Adiyen is also His Dasan.
Thus by the above 11 slokas, Shri Eswaran eulogises with ardour the glory of EmperumAn Lord Shri Lakshmi Nrusimhan and by the 12th sloka, He recites Phalasruti ( the innumerable benefits that accrue to anyone who recites this Mantra).
फलश्रुतिः
शङ्करेणादरात् प्रोक्तं
पदानां तत्त्वनिर्णयम् ।
त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेत् तस्य
श्रीर्विद्याऽऽयुश्च वर्धते
ShankarenAdharAt proktam
PadAnAm Tatva nirNayam |
Trisandhyam ya: patet tasya
SrirvidhyAyushcha vardhate ||
“Tatva NirNayam” (Conclusive Truth) behind the words in this Shri Mantra Rajam, which is unequivocally the Supreme of all the Mantras, has been recited by adiyen Sankaran with very great pleasure.
Shri Esvaran concludes this Phalasruti by saying that whosoever recites this Shri Mantra Raja Pada Stotram with great faith and delight, daily during all the three SandhyA kAlams (morning, afternoon and evening) will be blessed with abundant wealth (shree), true knowledge ( vidya) and long life ( Ayush).
It is impossible to describe in words the immense benefits bestowed by this Stotram. Hence instead of cogitating over what benefits will be bestowed on recital of this Stotram, the best thing is to realize that with this Mantra, nothing is impossible to attain. In order to facilitate all to read and reap the innumerable benefits by devotedly reciting this Stotram daily, this invaluable Stotram was submitted with modesty at the holy hands of Shri BhAgavatOtamAs during the first of the series of volitioned 108 Shri Svati Nakshatra MahAyagnam performed with glory at adiyen’s kutir (hut) for 2 days on 31 st and 32nd days of the Tamil Month VaikAsi ( ie. on Saturday and Sunday 13.06.1981 and 14.06.1981).
